23 12 510 Replacing radial shaft seal for drive shaft (GS6-53BZ) (S85/S65): Notes

IMPORTANT: After completion of work, check TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL .
Use only approved fluid. See MANUAL TRANSMISSION - OPERATING FLUIDS .
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the automatic transmission!

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove TRANSMISSION .
Remove CLUTCH RELEASE UNIT AND RELEASE LEVER from guide tube.

Release screws.

Tightening torque: 23 11 2AZ .

Remove guide tube (1).

Installation:

Clean guide tube.

Do not grease guide tube.

Drive a hole into radial shaft seal (1) using a center punch.

IMPORTANT: Do not use a drill as drillings may result in transmission malfunction.

Screw in special tool 230490.

Drive out radial shaft seal (1) with impact weight (2).

Installation:

Coat sealing lips of radial seal with gear oil.

Push radial seal (1) onto drive shaft up to housing.

Drive in radial seal (1) as far as it will go with special tool 233240 and plastic hammer.
