Axle Carrier: Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 17 other vehicles, including the 2008 BMW 760Li, 2007 BMW 760Li, 2006 BMW 760i, 2006 BMW 760Li, and 2005 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Damaged threads in body-side bushings can be repaired with Helicoil- 14 x 1.5 x 18 mm thread inserts. Thread inserts must be installed so that they are flush with original thread.
  1. To install, reverse removal procedure.
  2. Install front rubber mounts. See Fig 1 . Tighten rubber mount screw (1) to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Tighten tension strut (6) to body to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Install rear rubber mounts. Threaded pins must be aligned in longitudinal direction of vehicle. See Fig 2 . Tighten screw to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Connect ARS lines.
  6. Attach spring struts.
  7. Install left and right stabilizer.
  8. Connect hose to tank filler pipe. Tighten clip to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  9. Connect plug for ride level sensor, attach brake calipers and speed sensors.
  10. Install drive shaft.
  11. Install rear heat shield.
  12. Install exhaust system. Replace self-locking nuts.
  13. Install wheels and tighten lug bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
