Disassembly & Assembly

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 17 other vehicles, including the 2008 BMW 760Li, 2007 BMW 760Li, 2006 BMW 760i, 2006 BMW 760Li, and 2005 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove integral link. See INTEGRAL LINK  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Remove stabilizer link from swinging arm. See SPRING STRUT SHOCK ABSORBER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Unfasten shock absorber from wheel carrier. See SPRING STRUT SHOCK ABSORBER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. If necessary, remachine special tool (33 4 191). Cut out hatched area from special tool (metal cutting saw). Deburr cutting edges. See Fig 1 .
  5. Lift out circlip (1). Withdraw ball joint with special tool (33 4 191/192/193) and (33 3 333). Slotted side of special tool (33 4 191) should be pointing towards wheel carrier. See Fig 2 .
  6. Draw in new ball joint (1) with special tools (33 4 191/192), (33 4 194) and (33 3 333) as far as it will go. See Fig 3 .
  7. To assemble, install new circlip (1) and reverse disassembly procedure.
