61 31 006 Removing and installing (replacing) fixture for steering column stalk

WARNING:
Move wheels into straight-ahead position and do not alter this position during the repair work.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Move steering column into "lower" and "extended" position
- Disconnect battery negative lead, refer to 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD
- Remove AIRBAG unit, refer to DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE
- Remove steering wheel, refer to STEERING WHEEL
- Remove front section of steering column trim, refer to STEERING COLUMN COVER UPPER SECTION
- Remove lower section of steering column trim, refer to STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER SECTION
- Remove wood trim on instrument panel, middle, refer to 51 45 363 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CENTER WOOD TRIM ON INSTRUMENT PANEL
- Remove top section of steering column casing, refer to STEERING COLUMN COVER UPPER SECTION
NOTE:
Comply with notes and instructions on handling fibre optic cables. Refer to 61 00... Notes on handling optical fibers .
Release screws (1).
Pull out fixture for steering column stalk (2) in direction of arrow.
Disconnect plug connections behind and remove fixture for steering column stalk (2).
Replacement:

Illustration shows fixture for steering column stalk installed.
Release screws (1).
Remove steering column control (2).
Replacement:
Carry out programming/coding. Refer to Diagnosis Programming/Coding .
Carry out adjustment of steering angle sensor.
