Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 42 other vehicles, including the 2003 BMW 530i, 2003 BMW 525i, 2002 BMW M5, 2002 BMW 540i, and 2002 BMW 530i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Unscrew screw. See Fig 1.
  2. Press upper section of steering column trim inwards on both sides in areas shown, detach lower section from below and allow it to hang down. See Fig 2.
  3. Release screw and raise upper panel. See Fig 3.
  4. Remove transceiver and disconnect plug. See Fig 4.
  5. Slide in special tool (61 3 300) with flattened end (A) facing ring antenna and lever out ring antenna. See Fig 5.
  6. To install, reverse removal procedure. Locking unit (1) must locate in the hook (2). See Fig 6.
