51 16 239 Removing and installing/replacing lid on rear storage box

NOTE: Wire (3) of dia. 1.9 mm and approx. 60 mm in length is required.

Unlock lid (1) and open approx. 150 mm.

Slide wire (3) into bore (2) and release lid (1).

IMPORTANT: Lid (3) must not be completely open.
Do not open lid (3) further (risk of damage).

Release screws (5) on bearing (2).

In this position, pull lid (3) with bearings (2) in direction of arrow out of mountings (1).

If necessary, disconnect plug connections from additional equipment.

Installation: 

Do not pull out wire (4).

If necessary, turn shaft at square with open-end wrench upwards slightly and slide wire (4) into bore.

If necessary, replace defective bearings (2).

Attach left/right bearings (2) correctly to shaft (1).

Opening on bearing (2) points downwards slightly.

Tighten screws (5) after fitting lid to specified torque,

Tightening torque, see 51 16 1AZ  in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
