Requirements for correct adjustments: front door correctly adjusted, convertible top correctly adjusted, and car must stand on its wheels.

Observe adjustment sequence: (1) Pretension, (2) Longitudinal direction, (3) Retraction depth.

Ideal adjustment, pretension: Partially open convertible top and close door window glass (1). Close door until lock closes in first catch. Door window glass (1) must touch against A-pillar seal (2) but must not press into it.

Tighten down screw (1) in counterclockwise direction. Tightening torque, see 51 32 2AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES . Check adjustment, repeat procedure if necessary.

Adjustment by way of window guide rail: Open door and lever out rubber plug (1). Release nut (2) and move window guide rail. Tighten nut (2). Tightening torque, see 51 33 2AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES . Check adjustment, repeat procedure if necessary.

Adjusting retraction depth: Open door and door window glass. Lever out rubber plugs (1 and 2). Adjust height uniformly via adjusting screw (3) at front and rear.

NOTE: Reinitialize power unit after completing adjustment work on door, door window glass or convertible top.

Notes on initializing power window unit (from 04/2004).

WARNING: Danger of injury! There is no anti-trapping protection during initialization.
NOTE: Cars built prior and up to 04/2004 have no anti-trapping protection and on the passenger side no toll closing function. Initialization is performed on the power window switch of the relevant door.

Initialization comprises: Erasure of initialization, Reinitialization. An initialization must be performed: In the event of malfunctions, e.g. no one-touch function, no opening or if available no comfort function possible, after the power window drive has been replaced, after work is carried out on the power window mechanism, after a power supply interruption, e.g. disconnection of the battery or disconnection of the power supply to the door, after adjustment work on the convertible top, or after replacement of seals.

Erasure of initialization: Open door window glass fully. Operate power window switch in "Open" position four times within 10 seconds. This erases initialization of the power window, anti-trapping protection and toll function are inactive. Check whether one-touch control (toll) function is inactive, otherwise repeat procedure.

Reinitialization: Close convertible top and doors. Carry out following procedure for corresponding window twice in succession with engine running. Avoid a break between the two steps!

Open door window glass fully. operate and hold power window switch in "Close" position (second switch stage). Once upper end position has been reached, hold power window switch down for approx. 2 seconds more. This completes initialization.

NOTE: Carry out function check (one-touch function, anti-trapping protection and, if necessary, comfort function).
