51 31 021 Removing and installing/replacing rubber frame for windshield

IMPORTANT: Rubber frame has an aluminum section inlay.
Carefully wind out rubber frame in a turning motion (windshield breakage).

Raise cowl panel cover (1) slightly.

Pull out rubber frame (2) from left bottom to right bottom.

NOTE: Tear-off lip (3) can be stuck on adhesive.
When rubber frame (1) is removed, tear-off lip (3) can tear off and remain in vehicle.

Installation: 

Clean cutout.

If necessary, there is no tear-off lip (3) in area (A).

Pay attention to center marking on rubber frame and windshield.

Replacement of rubber frame without windshield removal: 

Detach tear-off lip (3) from rubber frame (1).

If adhesive leaks over tear-off lip (3), this area must be cut out partially.

To facilitate installation, coat rubber frame (1) and body cutout with water.

Replacement of rubber frame with removed or new windshield: 

Fit rubber frame (1) with tear-off lip (3).
