Swivel Bearing: Removal

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 17 other vehicles, including the 2008 BMW 760Li, 2007 BMW 760Li, 2006 BMW 760i, 2006 BMW 760Li, and 2005 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove wheel.
  2. Remove brake disk (brake line remains connected) and ABS pulse sensor. See appropriate DISC article in BRAKES.
  3. Unfasten tie rod end from swivel bearing. See TIE ROD  .
  4. Remove control arm from swivel bearing. See CONTROL ARM  .
  5. Remove tension strut from swivel bearing. See TENSION STRUTS  .
  6. Release clamping screw and remove swivel bearing. See Figure .
  7. Release bolts and detach swivel bearing from wheel bearing. See Fig 2 .
  8. Unfasten screws (1) and remove wheel bearing. See Fig 3 .
  9. Recondition all tapped holes (1) in wheel bearing if it is not replaced. See Fig 3 .
