Front Axle Support: Removal

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 17 other vehicles, including the 2008 BMW 760Li, 2007 BMW 760Li, 2006 BMW 760i, 2006 BMW 760Li, and 2005 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove front wheels.
  2. Lower front axle support. See FRONT AXLE (WITH SPRING STRUTS  .
  3. Remove stabilizer link from stabilizer bar on left and right. See STABILIZER  .
  4. Remove ARS lines from front axle support, if necessary, and install in new front axle support.
  5. On vehicles with ARS, detach ARS pressure line from vane pump and seal off connections. Release nut on holder. See Figure .
  6. Open fast-release coupling (1). On vehicles with ARS, release union nut (2). On vehicles without ARS, detach pressure line from vane pump. Seal off connections. See Figure .
  7. Disconnect line from ride level sensor.
  8. Remove pressure rod for ride level sensor from control arm.
  9. Detach control arm on front axle support on left and right. See CONTROL ARM  .
  10. Detach tension strut on front axle support on left and right. See TENSION STRUTS  .
  11. Remove stabilizer bar bracket on left and right. See STABILIZER  .
  12. Remove heat shield for engine shielding.
  13. Move old add-on parts to new front axle support.
