Front Axle Support: Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 17 other vehicles, including the 2008 BMW 760Li, 2007 BMW 760Li, 2006 BMW 760i, 2006 BMW 760Li, and 2005 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

CAUTION: Prior to installation, rivet blind rivet nuts (2) to new front axle support (1), in accordance with old front axle support, with rivet gun. See Fig 1 .

Installation is reverse of removal.
Replace sealing rings (D) on ARS pressure line. See Figure . Replace self-locking nuts and tighten to specification. Damaged threads in engine supports may be repaired with Helicoil thread inserts. Install inserts so they are flush with original thread. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Align front axle. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES under ADJUSTMENTS.
