63 12 860 Replacing control unit for left xenon headlamp

WARNING: Xenon headlamps: Danger to life due to high voltage! Therefore disconnect xenon headlamps from voltage supply.

Work on the entire xenon lighting system (ignition unit, control unit and lamp) may only be carried out by specialist personnel.

M54 only:

Remove intake filter housing. See 13 71 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INTAKE FILTER HOUSING (M54)

S62 only:

Remove left intake filter housing.

Up to 08/98:

NOTE: Headlamp removed for purposes of clarity.

Release screws and remove control unit for xenon headlamp with ignition unit.

From 08/98:

Following illustrations show right xenon headlamp.

Turn plug connection (1) in direction of arrow and disconnect.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Release screw (2) and remove control unit holder (3).

Remove control unit for xenon headlamp.
