51 13 220 Removing And Installing/Replacing Middle Trim Strip On Rear Lid

Special Tools Required:

00 9 318

NOTE: Minimum object temperature of trim strip and body >/= 18° C.

If this temperature is not achieved, the components must be preheated.

Removing Trim Strip:

Carefully detach trim strip (1) from rear lid (2) with special tool 00 9 318 and hot air blower.

NOTE: Trim strip (1) cannot be reused.

Cleaning Rear Lid:

For cleaning, use a fluff-free disposable cloth or a clean cleaning cloth.

Clean adhesive area of rear lid with spirit.

Air drying time at least 1 minute.

Do not grip bonding surface.

Fitting Trim Strip:

Place trim strip (1) on rear lid (2) and center.

Observe gap dimension between trim strip (1) at top and rear lid (2).

A = 0 mm.

Detach a liner^* a few centimeters and press on trim strip (1) gently.

Check position and if necessary realign.

Pull off both liners^* in stages and stick on trim strip (1).

Minimum application pressure is achieved by applying firm thumb pressure in stages over the entire joining surface (holding time approx. 1 second).

Firm thumb pressure approx. 35 N/cm² .

^* Liner is the protective film on a new trim strip.
