12 51 001 Replacing Wiring Harness Section For Engine (N73)

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:
- Read out DME fault memory.
- Disconnect battery negative lead. Refer to 61 00... BATTERY .
- Engine hood in assembly position. Refer to 51 00... SERVICE POSITION OF ENGINE HOOD .
- Remove right fresh air duct. Refer to 64 31 056 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT FRESH-AIR DUCT (AUTOMATIC A/C HIGH) .
- Remove center of assembly partition wall. Refer to 51 71 085 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CENTER OF ASSEMBLY COMPARTMENT BULKHEAD .
- Remove electronics box cover.
- Remove intake air manifold. Refer to 11 61 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INTAKE AIR MANIFOLD (N73) .
- Remove underbody protection at front/rear.
- Remove reinforcement plate.
Unfasten Following Plug Connections:

Release screws (1).
Release retaining clip (2).
Remove cover (3).
Installation:
Fit profile seals correctly.
Check for water leaks.
Installation:
Plug assignment in equipment carrier:
Control unit (1) VVT.
Control unit (2) DME. (plug color black).
Control unit (3) DME 2 (plug color gray).
Control unit (4) IVM (integrated supply module).
Control unit (5) HDEV 2 (high-pressure fuel injection control unit 7 to 12). (cable color red).
Control unit (6) HDEV (high-pressure fuel injection control unit 1 to 6). (cable color black).
Assemble engine.
NOTE:
Check function of DMC.
