Door Lock With Central Locking: E60, E61, E63, E64

There are 2 motors for the central locking system built into each door lock (high-speed motors with connected step-down gearing). The motors set the locking mechanism. In addition there is a Hall sensor as a door contact in each door lock. The Hall sensor detects whether the rotary latch is open or closed.

In addition to the door contact, the driver's door lock contains two further Hall sensors. The two Hall sensors are electronic lock contacts. The Hall sensors detect the position of the driver's door lock cylinder (lock and deadlock). When not activated, the two Hall sensors are ON and when activated they go to OFF. The order in which the two Hall sensors are switched to OFF indicates "Opening" or "Closing" This prevents:

NOTE: Mechanical unlocking is possible. If electrical operation fails (e.g. flat battery), the driver's door can be unlocked manually with the ignition key in the lock cylinder.
