CAS Control Unit: E60, E61, E63, E64, E87, E90, E91

Installation location 

The CAS control unit is located behind the instrument panel in the area of the left-hand A-pillar.

Construction 

A 41-pin connector on the CAS control unit creates the connection to the vehicle electrical system.

> E60, E61, E63, E64 until 09/2005: The ignition starter switch is directly connected to the CAS control unit by a 14-pin connector.

> E87, E90, E91 and E60, E61, E63, E64 from 09/2005: The insert compartment is directly connected to the CAS control unit by a 14-pin connector. The START/STOP button is connected to the insert compartment via a 10-pin plug connection. 10 contacts on the ribbon cable are looped through to the START/STOP button via the insert compartment.

2 A Terminal R to the brake light switch

4 A Terminal R to the seat-occupancy detector, front-passenger side
5 A Terminal R to MRS control unit (E87, E90, E91 only)
6 A Signal from terminal 50 to SMG (only E60, E61, E63, E64)
7 A Terminal 15 signal output (engine-dependent) to:
Injection valve relay; terminal 15 overload-protection relay; hot-film air-mass sensor with DDE
8 A Terminal 15 signal output to: Terminal 15 relay
9 A Terminal 15 signal output to:
Steering column switch cluster (SZL) for E60, E61, E63, E64 until 09/2005;
Fuel heater with DDE for E87, E90, E91
10 A Terminal 15 signal output:
Convertible top module (CVM for E64)
Electric trailer coupling release for E90, E91
11 E Selector lever lock signal input
12 M Earth for CAS (electronics)
