12 14 610 Replacing right knock sensors (N62)

(cylinder bank 1 to 4)

Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit.

Switch off ignition.

Remove intake air manifold, refer to 11 61 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INTAKE AIR MANIFOLD (N62) .

CAUTION: Mixing up the knock sensor plug connections will result in engine damage! Routing of wires and plug connections must conform to the original routing. This eliminates the risk of confusion and mix-ups.

Unfasten screws.

Tightening torque, refer to 12 14 2AZ in ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Remove knock sensors (1).

NOTE: Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit. Check stored fault messages. Rectify faults. Now clear the fault memory.
