51 34 160 Removing and installing/replacing plastic covers on rear door window frame (security) at inside left or right

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove rear door trim panel

  Remove rear door trim panel. See TRIM PANEL (UP TO 03/2007)  or TRIM PANEL (LONG VERSION OR FROM 03/2007) .

• Remove DOOR WINDOW GLASS 

Installation: 

Plastic covers on door window frame are bonded with WINDOW ADHESIVE  and must be replaced.

Plastic cover (1), outer door side, on door window glass armor plating. Plastic cover (2) between door rubber seal and inner door window frame armor plating.

Detach plastic cover (1) in direction of arrow, remove adhesive residue.

Door window glass armor plating (1), plastic cover (2).

Remove rubber guide (1) and bonded plastic cover (2), remove adhesive residue.

Installation: 

Slide in rubber guide (1). Apply window glass adhesive in corner profile (3) of plastic cover (2). Press plastic cover (2) into groove of rubber guide (1). Now firmly stick plastic cover (2) to door window glass armor plating. If necessary, check position of joined parts for best possible seating and secure with adhesive tape on door window frame.
