00 11 259 Changing oil in rear axle final drive (Dynamic Performance Control) and disposing of used oil

NOTE: The rear axle final drive has three oil chambers. The outer chambers (1, 3) contain the oil "SAF carbon mod", but with different filling capacities. The middle chamber (2) contains the "SAF XO Burmah Castrol" oil ( refer to Operating Fluids). The oils will mix if the rear axle final drive is subject to a change in position in excess of 45°.

WARNING: Risk of burning if exhaust system is touched!
DANGER OF POISONING if oil is ingested/absorbed through the skin!
DANGER OF INJURY if oil comes into contact with eyes and skin!

NOTE: Only change oil when rear axle final drive is at normal operating temperature.

Recycling

Catch and dispose of escaping rear axle final drive oils.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations

Place oil collecting apparatus underneath.

Open oil drain plugs (1).

Drain and dispose of rear axle final drive oils.

Replace oil drain plugs (1).

Tightening torque 33 11 3AZ .

Open oil filler plugs (1) and pour in "SAF carbon mod" up to lower edge of opening for oil filler plugs (1).

Open oil filler plug (2) and pour in "SAF XO Burmah Castrol" up to lower edge of opening for oil filler plug (2).

Replace oil filler plugs (1, 2).

Tightening torque 33 11 3AZ .
