51 47 315 Removing and installing / replacing front carpet for passenger compartment

Necessary preliminary tasks
- Remove both side trim panels in footwell . See 51 43 070 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SIDE TRIM PANEL, FOOTWELL, ON A-PILLAR, LEFT or 51 43 075 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING SIDE TRIM PANEL, FOOTWELL, ON A-PILLAR, RIGHT.
- Remove both front seats . See 52 17 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT SEAT (COMFORT) , 52 14 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT SEAT , 52 16 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT SEAT or 52 13 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT SEAT (NORMAL/SEMI-ELECTRIC) .
- Remove AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT .
- Remove ACCELERATOR PEDAL MODULE .
Depending on version:
- Remove EMERGENCY OPERATION .
- Remove both CENTRAL BASS SPEAKER COVERS .
- Remove REAR COMPARTMENT BLOWER .
Remove holder (1).
Undo nut (2) and remove ground cable.
Cut out carpet at cutting edge (3) and (4) left/right.
IMPORTANT:
Risk of damage!
Start cuts towards center of vehicle as far as is possible to guarantee that cutting edges are covered by storage compartment and/or trim panels.
Pay attention to cables when cutting.

Move back cable through carpet.
Feed out carpet to rear/top.
Installation note:
Apertures (1) serve as alignment points when fitting carpet (2).
Replacement
Lay removed carpet over new one and transfer cuts to new carpet.
