61 31 229 Removing and installing/renewing both switches on sport steering wheel

Necessary preliminary tasks 

NOTE: Steering wheel shown removed for purposes of clarity.

Release screws (1).

Version - shift paddles for automatic transmission: 

Release screws (1).

Disconnect plug connections (2).

NOTE: Both sport steering wheel switches (1) are connected to each other by the wiring harness.

Disconnect plug connections (2).

Detach switches on sport steering wheel (1) with design cover (3) in direction of arrow from steering wheel.

Installation: 

Make sure wiring harnesses are correctly routed.

Make sure switches on sport steering wheel (1) with design cover (3) are correctly seated on steering wheel.

Release screws (1).

Feed wiring harness (3) out of design cover (4).

Remove switches on sport steering wheel (2) from design cover (4).

Installation: 

Make sure wiring harness (3) is correctly laid on design cover (4).
