CBS reset in the car

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 BMW X5 M, 2012 BMW X5 M, 2011 BMW X5 M, and 2010 BMW X5 M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The service jobs can be reset in the car at the instrument cluster. Here, the availability of a service job is reset to 100 % (corresponding to new component). The availability is an internal computing value (not visible to the operator).

NOTE: A reset is only possible in the car if:
  • there is no Check Control message
  • availability of the service job is under 80 %
  • on-board date must be correctly set

Resetting of a service job must always be carried out after  a maintenance measure has been completed.

The resetting procedure is aborted by a timeout or a terminal change.

Switch on ignition.

Press the trip odometer reset button (referred to as button in the following) for approx. 10 seconds until the 1st service job appears in the LC display.

Bring up the next item by briefly pressing the button again. Select desired service job.

NOTE: The upper display in the instrument cluster is illuminated by a service symbol (e.g.: an oil can denotes an oil change).

The lower display in the instrument cluster indicates the time or distance remaining until the next service (e.g.: 29000).

If the job is to be reset, press the button again for approx. 3 seconds until the message "Reset?" appears.

Acknowledge the reset by pressing the button for 3 seconds.
