11 40 000 Checking engine oil pressure

NOTE:

For Special Tool identification, see ENGINE- SPECIAL TOOLS - 5-SERIES (E60) .

Special Tools Required: 

NOTE: To check the engine oil pressure, the oil pressure switch must be removed and the special tools installed and connected.
NOTE: A small amount of oil will emerge when the oil pressure switch is removed. Have a cleaning cloth ready. Make sure no oil runs onto belt drive. Remove any remnants of oil immediately with cleaning cloth.

Remove oil pressure switch.

Installation: 

Tightening torque, refer to 12 61 1AZ in ENGINE - TIGHTENING TORQUES - 545I (4.4L) E60 .

Install special tool 11 4 050 with sealing ring (1) in place of oil pressure switch.

Check Engine Oil Pressure With DIS Tester 

Attach special tool 13 6 054 with sealing ring (1) and special tool 13 6 051 and connect to DIS Tester.

Check Engine Oil Pressure With Pressure Gauge: 

Install special tool 13 3 063 and special tool 13 3 061 (pressure gauge).

Start engine and check engine oil pressure.

Specified value. Refer to ENGINE - TECHNICAL DATA- 545I (4.4L) E60/N62 .
