41 14 511 Replacing Complete Rear Left Wheel Arch (Rear Left Side Panel Removed)

Spot-weld bonding is used on the E60. Observe specific procedure  .

Place vehicle on straightening bench.

Following new body parts are required:

Mark severance cut on side panel at rear in accordance with measurement a and cut.

IMPORTANT: Cut outer metal sheet only.
Water drainage hose (2) is located behind severance cut (1).

Measurement a = approx. 30 mm from side panel severance cut.

Remove cavity bulkhead (3).

Open weld joints in areas (4).

Installation: 

Mark severance cut (1) on new side panel in accordance with vehicle and cut.

Insert REINFORCEMENT PLATE  at severance cut.

Apply window glass adhesive to CAVITY ACOUSTIC BAFFLE  (3).

Open weld joints in area (1).

Remove front C-pillar reinforcement (2).

Mark severance cut (1) in accordance with measurement a and cut.

IMPORTANT: Cut outer metal sheet only.

Measurement a = approx. 200 mm from roof edge.

Open weld joints in areas (2).

Installation: 

Mark severance cut (1) on new part in accordance with vehicle and cut.

Insert REINFORCEMENT PLATE  at severance cut.

Cut wheel arch along line (1).

Preparation of new part: 

Mark new part in accordance with severance cut on vehicle + 20 mm extra material and cut (1).

Secure door opening at welding spot flanges with support strut (1)

Open weld joints in area (2).

Installation: 

MIG solder seam in area (2) is replaced by a MAG weld seam.

Cut top inner C-pillar (1) along line (2).

Open weld joints in area (3).

Preparation of new part: 

Mark severance cut along line (1) (approx. 20 mm overlap on vehicle) and cut.

Adapt new part in areas (2) to vehicle.

Open weld joints in areas (1).

Open weld joints in areas (1).

Installation: 

Adjust new parts to fit with straightening attachment or universal mount.
