64 12 577 Replacing changeover valve for independent/auxiliary heater

Only perform the following tasks on an engine that has cooled down.
Follow instructions for working on cooling system , see 17 00 008 DRAINING AND ADDING COOLANT IN RADIATOR (N62TU, N63) and check for leaks, see 17 00 009 CHECKING COOLING SYSTEM FOR WATER LEAKS , or 17 00 005 DRAINING AND ADDING COOLANT (N54) , 17 00 039 VENTING COOLING SYSTEM AND CHECKING FOR WATER LEAKS (N54) .
Only perform the following tasks on an engine that has cooled down.
Follow instructions for working on cooling system , see 17 00 008 DRAINING AND ADDING COOLANT IN RADIATOR (N62TU, N63) and check for leaks, see 17 00 009 CHECKING COOLING SYSTEM FOR WATER LEAKS , or 17 00 005 DRAINING AND ADDING COOLANT (N54) , 17 00 039 VENTING COOLING SYSTEM AND CHECKING FOR WATER LEAKS (N54) .
NOTE:
Disconnect
coolant hoses from changeover valve for independent/auxiliary heater.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove FRONT LEFT WHEEL ARCH .
IMPORTANT:
Risk of damage!
Observe coolant throughflow direction, mark coolant hoses before removing.
Observe coolant throughflow direction, mark coolant hoses before removing.
NOTE:
If necessary, catch escaping coolant.
Disconnect plug connection (1).
Release spring clamps (2) and detach coolant hoses.
Release nuts (3) and remove changeover valve for independent/auxiliary heater (4).
After installation:
Vent cooling system and check for water leaks
