13 62 531 Replacing Coolant Temperature Sensor (N63)

WARNING: Danger of scalding! Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.

IMPORTANT: Protect alternator against coolant. Cover alternator with suitable apparatus (risk of damage) .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Read out fault memory of DDE control unit; if necessary, work through test schedules
Switch off ignition
Remove supplementary coolant pump for turbocharger. See 17 51 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING SUPPLEMENTARY COOLANT PUMP FOR INTERCOOLER (N63) .

Unlock plug (1) and remove.

Unfasten coolant temperature sensor (2).

Installation:

Tightening torque, see 13 62 1AZ in SENSOR FOR CONTROL UNIT .

Now clear the fault memory.
