00 11 259 Changing oil in rear differential (Dynamic Performance Control) and disposing of used oil

NOTE: The rear differential has three oil chambers. The outer chambers (1, 3) contain the oil "SAF carbon mod", but with different filling capacities. The middle chamber (2) contains the "SAF XO Burmah Castrol" oil. The oils will mix if the rear differential is subject to a change in position in excess of 45°.

NOTE: Only change oil when rear differential is at normal operating temperature.

Recycling:

Catch and dispose of escaping rear differential oils.

Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations

Place oil collecting apparatus underneath.

Open oil drain plugs (1).

Drain and dispose of rear differential oils.

Replace oil drain plugs (1).

Tightening torque, see 33 11 REAR DIFFERENTIAL CASE WITH COVER .

Open oil filler plugs (1) and pour up to lower edge of opening for oil filler plugs (1).

Open oil filler plug (2) and pour up to lower edge of opening for oil filler plug (2).

Replace oil filler plugs (1, 2).

Tightening torque, see 33 11 REAR DIFFERENTIAL CASE WITH COVER .
