Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect battery negative lead . See 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD (CONVERTIBLE) or 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD (COUPE) .
- Remove lower trim from instrument panel . See 51 45 180 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRIM FOR INSTRUMENT PANEL, BOTTOM LEFT (CONVERTIBLE) or 51 45 180 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRIM FOR INSTRUMENT PANEL, BOTTOM LEFT (COUPE) .
Unclip airbag module for driver protection from trim.
Installation:
Replace defective retainers.
IMPORTANT:
Always replace airbag module for driver protection completely.
