51 45 187 Removing And Installing (Replacing) Instrument Panel Trim (With Active Knee Protection), Bottom Left

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

NOTE: Move driver's seat completely rearwards for easier removal.
NOTE: Trim panel (3) removed for purposes of clarity.

Release screws in area (1) from the rear on the airbag module. Tightening torque 72 12 07AZ . Unlock associated plug connection and disconnect.

Release screws (1). Unclip trim panel (2) downwards at latch mechanisms (3). Installation note: Latch mechanisms (3) must not be damaged.

Replacement: 

Modify airbag module. See AIRBAG GENERATOR .
