Removal & Installation

Unflange propeller shaft from transmission and tie back to side on vehicle underbody. Remove shift lever. See SHIFT LEVER  . Lever support bearing (1) out of mount. See Fig 1 .

During installation, install support bearing (1) with arrow (2) facing upwards in holder. See Fig 2 .

Remove heat shield (1). See Fig 3 .

Support transmission with a workshop hoist. Unclip cable from crossmember. Release bolts and remove crossmember (1). See Fig 4 . Lower transmission slightly.

Lever out spring (1) with a screwdriver from lug (2) on housing. Tilt spring upwards. See Fig 5 .

Remove bearing pin (1). During installation, grease bearing pin. See Fig 6 .

Remove shift arm. Detach support bearing (1) from shift arm. During installation, grease bearing journal. Attach support bearing (1) with opening (3) toward rear on shift arm. See Fig 7 .

Replace bearing bushing if damaged. Press out bearing bushing. Coat new bearing bushing with Circolight lubricant and then press into shift arm until side flanges of bearing bushing protrude uniformly. See Fig 8 .
