23 00 122 Installing replacement transmission (GS6S53BZ SMG)

IMPORTANT: After completing work:

Perform adaptation using DIS Tester
Check transmission oil level. See 00 11..... DRAINING/TOPPING UP GEAR OIL IN MANUAL TRANSMISSION .
Use only the approved transmission oil.. Refer to MANUAL TRANSMISSION - OPERATING FLUIDS .
Check fluid level in hydraulic system . See 21 53... CHECKING/TOPPING UP FLUID LEVEL IN HYDRAULIC SYSTEM (GS6S37BZ/GS6S53BZ/ SMG) .
Read out fault memory and clear entered faults.

Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the manual transmission.

Recycling:

Catch and dispose of escaping transmission oil. Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Drain transmission oil at oil drain plug
Tightening torque 23 00 4AZ . See MANUAL TRANSMISSION - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
Remove transmission.

Unfasten screws.

Remove and convert transmission bearing block.

Tightening torque 22 32 2AZ . See ENGINE AND GEARBOX SUSPENSION (MOUNTS) - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Modify following parts to new transmission:

Release bearing and release lever. See 21 51 500 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING/LEVER .
Modify cover caps
Ball pin and spring wire clip

Installation:

Observe greasing specification .

Add final details to vehicle.

Check transmission oil level.. See 00 11..... DRAINING/TOPPING UP GEAR OIL IN MANUAL TRANSMISSION .

Check transmission oil level. See 00 11..... DRAINING/TOPPING UP GEAR OIL IN MANUAL TRANSMISSION .
Use only the approved transmission oil. Refer to MANUAL TRANSMISSION - OPERATING FLUIDS .
Check fluid level in hydraulic system . See 21 53... CHECKING/TOPPING UP FLUID LEVEL IN HYDRAULIC SYSTEM (GS6S37BZ/GS6S53BZ/ SMG) .
Read out fault memory and clear entered faults
