18 00 020 Removing and installing complete exhaust system (N62, N62TU)

Special tools required: 

WARNING: Scalding hazard!
Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.

Support exhaust system with special tool 31 2 220. 

NOTE: Weight of exhaust system is approx. 40 kg.

Release flanged nuts on both exhaust manifolds with integrated catalytic converter.

Installation: 

Replace self-locking nuts.

Tightening torque, 18 31 3AZ  . See EXHAUST SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES.

Release nuts.

Installation: 

Tightening torque 18 20 1AZ.  See EXHAUST SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES.

Release screws.

Remove reinforcement plate.

Installation: 

Tightening torque 51 61 7AZ.  See BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES.

WARNING: Risk of injury!
Removal of the exhaust system must be carried out with the assistance of a second person.
NOTE: Weight of exhaust system is approx. 40 kg.

Detach rubber element from holder.

Release nut.

Remove holder of rear muffler.

Installation: 

Tightening torque 18 20 3AZ.  See EXHAUST SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES.

Release nut.

Remove holder on tailpipe.

Detach hose from vacuum unit.

Carefully lower exhaust system.
