17 11 100 Removing and installing/replacing coolant expansion tank (N62)

WARNING: Danger of scalding!
Only carry out work on cooling system after engine has cooled down.

Recycling:

Catch and dispose of drained coolant.

Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Drain coolant from radiator

NOTE: Illustration shows E65.

Unlock plug (1) and remove.

Unlock and disconnect coolant hoses (2) and (3).

Release screws (1).

Remove coolant expansion tank (6) in direction of arrow.

Unlock and disconnect coolant hose (4) with tank (6) released.

Adding coolant:

Top up coolant and vent cooling system. Check for leaks.
