Removal & Installation (Front Door)

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Remove cover and screw behind inside door handle. See Figure .
  2. Using Adhesive Wedge (00 9 322), pry out armrest screw covers and remove screws. Pry out AIRBAG emblem and remove screw located under emblem. Remove screw cap and remove screw from forward edge of door from panel. Using Trim Panel Wedge (00 9 317), start unclipping door trim panel at bottom and work up sides. See Figure .
  3. Carefully unclip door trim panel from top retainers. Pull door trim panel over door lock button. Disconnect lock release handle cable. Disconnect side air bag module connector and top door control unit connector. Remove side air bag mounting nuts and holder. See Figure . Fold up lugs of plastic housing and remove side air bag module.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure there are no foreign objects in side air bag mounting. Tighten side air bag module mounting nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
