64 52 523 Replacing A/C system compressor (M57, M54)
Avoid contact with refrigerant and refrigerant oil.
Follow safety instructions for handling R 134a refrigerant
Refrigerant circuit is under high pressure!
Follow safety instructions for handling refrigerant oil
Restart engine only when A/C system has been correctly filled.
Read and comply with notes on replacing compressor
Follow instructions for opening and replacing parts in refrigerant circuit!
If A/C system is opened for more than 24 hours:
Replace drier insert for A/C system
Necessary preliminary tasks:
All:
- Remove front underbody protection . See 51 47 490 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
Version with Dynamic Drive:
Do not release pressure lines on active stabilizer.
Press lock (1) on distributor (2) and detach vent line (3) in direction of arrow.
Installation:
Make sure vent line (3) is correctly seated in distributor (2).
Lower stabilizer on front axle. See 37 11 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER .
Version with Dynamic Drive:
Release nuts (1) and (2).
Remove retaining fixture (3).
Installation:
Make sure retaining fixture (3) is correctly seated.
All:
Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.
Release screws (2).
Detach refrigerant lines (3) in direction of arrow.
Installation:
Tightening torque 64 52 1AZ. See 52 COMPRESSOR .
Replace all sealing rings and moisten with refrigerant oil.
All:
Release screws (1).
Feed out A/C compressor (2) in direction of arrow.
After installation:
- Evacuate and fill A/C system
