72 12 000 Removing And Installing/Replacing Airbag Module On Passenger Side

Incorrect handling can activate airbag and cause injury.

Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery! See 12 00 ... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .

Disconnect battery negative lead.

Remove glovebox.

Version with CD changer: 

Remove CD changer.

Unfasten plug connection (3) and disconnect.

Release screws (4).

Lay retaining clip (2) slightly to one side.

IMPORTANT: Airbag module (1) could fall out after screws (5) have been released. Grip airbag module (1).

Release screws (5) and carefully remove airbag module (1).

Installation: 

When inserting airbag module (4) in channel (3), make sure channel (3) rests all round airbag module (4). If necessary, pull channel (3) apart at sides.

Replace screws (1).

Retainers (2) fall out during removal and do not have to be replaced.

Tightening torque. See PARTS AND ACCESSORIES - TIGHTENING TORQUES - ALPINA .
