61 12 187 Replacing Wiring Harness On Function Carrier On Left Or Right Rear Door

Overview of function carrier components without roller sun blind: 

  1. Control unit, rear door (door module)
  2. Light module (build date up to 09/2004)
  3. Bowden cable
  4. Speaker
  5. Wiring harness, function carrier
  6. Quick-release coupling grey 1.8 mm

    Quick-release coupling white 0.8 mm

Overview of function carrier components with roller sun blind: 

  1. Control unit, rear door (door module)
  2. Light module (build date up to 09/2004)
  3. Bowden cable
  4. Speaker
  5. Wiring harness, function carrier
  6. Roller sun blind module
  7. Quick-release coupling grey 1.8 mm

    Quick-release coupling white 0.8 mm

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

With roller sun blind only: 

IMPORTANT: Follow instructions for handling fibre optic cables. See 61 00 ... NOTES ON HANDLING OPTICAL FIBERS .
Risk of mixing up plugs for door lock and control unit!
Mark relevant plugs of wiring harness to be changed.
Ensure correct plug connections for replacement wiring harness through comparison of plugs (wire cross-sections, pin assignment).

Unclip wiring harness.

Release screws (1).

Feed out rubber grommet (2) with wiring harness.
