51 31 242 Replacing Rubber Frame (Bottom) For Rear Window

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove both trim strips from roof frame . See 51 31 ... INSTRUCTIONS ON GLUING WINDSCREEN .
CAUTION:
Rubber frame (1) is reinforced with an aluminum strip.
Pull off rubber frame (1) carefully in direction of arrow (rear window breakage).
Pull off rubber frame (1) carefully in direction of arrow (rear window breakage).
NOTE:
Tear-off tab on left/right may be bonded to adhesive.
When rubber frame (1) is removed, tear-off lip on left/right may tear off and remain in vehicle.
When rubber frame (1) is removed, tear-off lip on left/right may tear off and remain in vehicle.
Installation:
Gap (A) between rubber frame (1) and rear window corner (2) must be the same on left/right.
Installation:
Replacement of rubber frame without rear window removal:
Detach tear-off tabs (2) from rubber frame (1).
If adhesive has managed to get onto bridge, this area must be cut out partially.
Replacement of rubber frame with removed or new rear window:
Fit rubber frame with tear-off tabs (2).
