51 21 125 Removing And Installing/Replacing Carrier For Left Or Right Outside Door Handle With Lock Cylinder

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove front outside handle  . See 51 21 170 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING OUTSIDE HANDLE FROM LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR .

  Driver's side only: 

• Remove door lock  on front door. See 51 21 090 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING DOOR LOCK IN LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR .

Feed out Bowden cable towards bottom.

Installation: 

Bowden cable (1) and fibre optics cable (2) must be routed below bridge (3).

No fibre optics cable is fitted from build date 09/2004.

Release screw (1).

Feed carrier out of guide (2).

Removing carrier:

• Turn front section of carrier downwards and lower
• Slide front section forwards slightly and turn upwards
• Lift out carrier

Installation: 

Make sure guides are correctly fed in.

Note on installation (driver's side only): 

Make sure sealing ring (1) is correctly clipped into place.

Protect door outer skin (e.g. cleaning cloth).

Feed fiber optics cable out of clip (1).

If necessary, withdraw Bowden cable sleeve (2) with clip (3) from retaining fixture.

Feed Bowden cable out of actuating lever (4).

Remove carrier.

Installation: 

Clip is on fitted on Bowden cables with blue sealing caps (1).

Position of clip on Bowden cable:

2 = small hole side
