33 17 004 Replacing All Front Rubber Mounts For Rear Differential Mounting

Special tools required: 

IMPORTANT: Observe safety instructions for raising the vehicle.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Withdraw front rubber mount with special tools 33 3 312  , 33 4 165  , 33 4 162  , 33 3 315  and 33 3 314  .

NOTE: Milled recess of special tool 33 4 165  must rest at top on rear axle carrier.

IMPORTANT: Coat bearing bushing in rear axle carrier and new rubber mount with Circolight (refer to BMW Parts Service).

Align rubber mount by way of slots (1) to vehicle transversal direction.

Insert rubber mount from side with larger diameter into special tool 33 4 165  .

NOTE: Milled recess (1) of special tool 33 4 165  must rest at top on rear axle carrier.

Draw in rubber mount with special tools 33 3 314  , 33 3 315  , 33 4 166  , 33 4 165  and 33 4 164  as far as it will go. Make sure special tool 33 4 166  is correctly seated.

NOTE: Rubber mount must be seated flush in rear axle carrier. If necessary, rotate special tool 33 4 164  through 90° and draw in overlap.
