32 33 000 Removing And Installing / Replacing Steering Wheel

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Move wheels to straight-ahead position.

Pull off plug (1).

Release screw (2).

Remove steering wheel.

Installation: 

If necessary, move wheels to straight-ahead position.

Align steering wheel by means of coding (see grooved toothing) to steering column and attach. The locking pin (1) must engage in the corresponding receptacle of the driver (2).

Tightening torque. See STEERING AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - ALPINA .

Replacement only: 

Remove steering wheel module control unit  . See 61 31 231 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING STEERING WHEEL ELECTRONICS CONTROL UNIT or 61 31 232 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING STEERING WHEEL MODULE CONTROL UNIT (SPORTS STEERING WHEEL) .

Remove multifunction steering wheel switches on both sides  . See 61 31 220 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING MULTIFUNCTION STEERING WHEEL SWITCH .
