Removal & Installation

  1. Remove wheel bearing. See WHEEL BEARING  .
  2. Unfasten tie rod nut. Pull off tie rod with Special Tool (32 3 090). See Figure .
  3. Unfasten control arm nut. Press control arm off steering knuckle with Special Tool (32 3 090). See Figure .
  4. Secure steering knuckle against falling off. Unscrew multi-purpose bolt. If necessary, spread out steering knuckle with Special Tool (31 2 200) and remove. See Figure .
  5. To install, remove guard plate and attach to new steering knuckle. See Fig 1 .
  6. Insert positioning pin (1) into gap and press steering knuckle upwards onto stop. See Figure . Tighten bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Install control arm on steering knuckle and replace self-locking nut. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  8. Remove grease from bore and pin. Install tie rod. Replace self-locking nut. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  9. Install wheel bearing. See WHEEL BEARING  .
