11 37 008 Removing And Installing/Replacing Right Eccentric Shaft (N62 To 9/03): Identification
- Lever with roller for cylinders 1 to 4
- Lever with roller for cylinders 5 to 8
Incorrect assembly will result in engine damage.
Cylinder bank 1 to 4:
As shown in the illustration, the machined surface (3) on the eccentric must point left and the groove in the eccentric shaft must be pointed upwards at an angle.
Align lever (1) with digits 1-4 pointing to groove in eccentric shaft and insert. Insert screw (2).
Grip lever (1) with roller at dihedral.
Tighten down screw (2).
Installation of magnet wheel:
Clamp eccentric shaft (2) with front jaws on dihedral in a vise.
Incorrect assembly will result in engine damage.
Magnet wheel (1) is secured with a lug in groove in eccentric shaft.
Insert screw (2) and tighten down.
Tightening torque. See ENGINE - TIGHTENING TORQUES -- ALPINA .
Insert bearing shells (1) into bearing bracket so that it is secured in bore (2).
Lubricate bearing shells (1) with engine oil.
Cylinder bank 1 to 4:
Machined curvature of eccentric points inwards.
Lever (1) with roller points towards front.
Install eccentric shaft as shown in illustration.
Version up to 2/03:
Eccentric shaft of cylinder bank 1 to 4 has a "flat area (2)" on collar between cylinders 1 and 2.
Lubricate bearing shells (1) with engine oil.
Install bearing shells (1).
Bearing shells (1) must snap audibly into place.
Check correct position of bearing shells (1).
Install right inlet camshaft. See 11 31 034 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT INLET CAMSHAFT (N62 TO 9/03) .
