Front Axle Carrier: Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 12 other vehicles, including the 2007 BMW 550i, 2007 BMW 530i, 2007 BMW 525i, 2006 BMW 550i, and 2006 BMW 530i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Use previous front axle carrier as template for fitting the following parts:
    • Plug-In Nuts
    • Seal Plugs
    • Blind Rivet Nuts
  2. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Top off hydraulic fluid reservoir to MAX mark on dipstick. Start engine. Turn steering wheel twice from lock to lock. Turn engine off. Check fluid level and top off, if necessary.
  4. Check pipe connections for leaks.
  5. If necessary, carry out initial operation for Active Front Steering (AFS). See INITIALIZING ACTIVE FRONT STEERING (AFS)  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  6. If necessary, carry out initial operation for Dynamic Drive. See INITIALIZING DYNAMIC DRIVE  under ADJUSTMENTS.
