64 22 521 Removing and installing/replacing A/C system compressor (N52K)

If A/C system is opened for more than 24 hours:
Replacing drier insert for A/C system . See 64 53 517 REPLACING DESICCANT INSERT FOR A/C SYSTEM .
Restart engine only when A/C system has been correctly filled.

If A/C system is opened for more than 24 hours:
Replacing drier insert for A/C system . See 64 53 517 REPLACING DESICCANT INSERT FOR A/C SYSTEM .
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Drawing off, evacuating and filling the A/C system are not included in the time value given for this work operation. See 64 50 009 DRAWING OFF, EVACUATING AND FILLING A/C SYSTEM (R 134A) .
- Remove A/C compressor drive belt. See 11 28 010 REPLACING ALTERNATOR DRIVE BELT (N52K) .
- Remove coolant thermostat. See 11 53 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING COOLANT THERMOSTAT (N52K) .
- Remove assembly underside protection at side top.
Release screw (1). Tightening torque 64 53 1AZ. Release screw (2) and remove refrigerant line (3). Tightening torque 64 53 4AZ. Installation: Replace sealing rings. Use special tool 00 9 030 to mount sealing rings without damaging them.
Release screw (1) and remove refrigerant line. Tightening torque, see 64 53 4AZ in 64 53 REFRIGERANT LINES AND EXPANSION VALVE . Disconnect plug connection (2). Release screws (3) and remove compressor by pulling upwards.
Installation:
- Replace screws (3)
- Tightening torque, see 64 52 3AZ in 64 53 REFRIGERANT LINES AND EXPANSION VALVE .
- Make sure line (4) is correctly routed
- Check adapter sleeves for damage, replace if necessary
After Installation:
- Fill cooling system, vent and check for leaks. See 17 00 039 VENTING COOLING SYSTEM AND CHECKING FOR WATER LEAKS (N52K) .
- Evacuate and fill A/C system .
