51 71 372 Removing And Installing/Replacing Both Tension Struts On Spring Strut Domes

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Right side:

Remove microfilter housing . See 64 31 081 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING MICROFILTER HOUSING .

Left side:

Remove left/right microfilter housing covers . See 64 31 101 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT MICROFILTER HOUSING COVER or 64 31 106 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT MICROFILTER HOUSING COVER .

Remove seal (1) for engine hood/bonnet.

Release screws (2, 4).

Remove partition wall (3).

Installation:

Make sure partition wall is correctly positioned.

Right side:

Release clip (1).

Release screws (2).

Remove partition wall (3).

Installation:

If necessary, replace faulty clip (1).

Make sure partition wall is correctly positioned.

Make sure bolts are installed in correct positions.

Left side:

Release clip (1).

Release screws (2, 4).

Unclip connecting cable (3).

Remove partition wall (5).

Installation:

If necessary, replace faulty clip (1).

Make sure partition wall is correctly positioned.

Make sure bolts are installed in correct positions.

Release screws (1).

Remove tension strut (2).

IMPORTANT: To ensure a correct ground connection, use only BMW genuine spare parts. Thread repairs on bulkhead mounting bracket are not permitted.
Replace screws.

Tightening torque. See BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
