51 16 ... Removing and installing/replacing locking rod for glovebox lid (from 09/09)

NOTE:
When working on trim panel components, make sure that the sensitive surfaces are not scratched or damaged.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove locking mechanism for glovebox.
- Close glovebox lid manually.
Release bolt (2) from locking rod mounting (1). Tightening torque, see 51 16 3AZ in 51 16 MIRRORS, FINISHERS, ASHTRAYS, CONSOLES . Installation: Correctly feed locking rod mounting (1) into glovebox casing (3).
Move locking rod (1) in the direction of the arrow and feed out left and right, while watching out for the spring (3). Installation: Guide spring (3) onto locking rod retaining lug (4) and mount in casing recess.
Replacement Check if the foam strip (2) of the locking rod (1) is still reusable. If necessary, replace foam strip (2).
