34 35 513 Replacing a Brake Pad Sensor (Rear)

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Partially detach rear wheel arch trim. See 51 71 041 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT WHEEL ARCH COVER .
IMPORTANT:
If a brake lining sensor that has already been ground has to be replaced even though the minimum brake lining thickness (See 34 21 REAR BRAKE DISCS E70 ) has not yet been reached, you must observe the following: The new sliding contact must be filed down with a file to the same length as the ground sliding contact.
The brake pad wear sensor must be replaced once it has been removed (brake pad wear sensor loses its retention capability in the brake pad).

Open housing cover (1).
Disconnect plug connection (2).
Installation:
Ensure proper locking of the plug connector and proper seating of the cable in the brackets.
Disengage cable (1) along marked lines from holders.
Installation:
Ensure proper locking of the holders and proper seating of the cable in the holders.
Pull brake pad sensor (1) in direction of arrow out of brake pad.
Installation:
Make sure brake pad sensor (1) is correctly seated in brake pad.
Disengage cable of brake pad sensor from holders (2).
