Removal & Installation

- Remove propeller shaft. Remove parking brake lever trim. Lock adjuster unit (ASZE). Using Special Tool (32 10 30), press stop (1) of adjusting spring back until restraining hook (2) snaps into place in stop (1). See Fig 1 . Remove one wheel stud. Bring wheel into position (tapped hole turned down approximately 20 degrees from horizontal). See Fig 2 . Nipple (1) and expander lock (2) are visible through tapped hole. See Fig 3 .
- Push in core of parking brake cable in direction of expander lock as far as it will go and grip firmly. Press nipple (1) downward through tapped hole with a screwdriver. Unclip parking brake cables from fixture (1). See Fig 4 . Release screws (2) and lower mounting pan a little. Press retaining lug (1) downward and pull out cable (2). See Fig 5 . Feed out mounting pan toward bottom. Pull parking brake cables out of rear axle guide. Unclip mounting clip (1) upward out of balance arm (2). See Fig 6 . Feed parking brake cables (1) inward with a screwdriver and pull out of balance arm (2). See Fig 7 .
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Reinstall wheel stud only after parking brake has been adjusted. Insert parking brake cable in brake carrier/brake guard plate. Sleeve must be inserted up to stop. Nipple of parking brake cable must audibly snap into place in expander lock. Replace self-locking nuts. Replace seal (3).
