Section 131 (DISC - 525i, 530i & 545i): Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 BMW 545i and 2004 BMW 545i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Brake power is designed for weight and driving performance of vehicles. The system features a hydraulic dual-circuit hydraulic brake system with "front/back" distribution. Electric precharging pump for Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) function has been omitted. 525i is fitted with conventional floating calipers. 530i is fitted with floating calipers with frames on front axle and conventional floating calipers on rear axle. With the exception of the floating calipers on 545i, all caliper housings are aluminum.

Lightweight brake rotors are used on these vehicles. Braking surface is made from gray cast iron while hubs are aluminum. Hubs are mated to rotor using a series of rivets.
